2. In class: We practiced the "CERS" process in preparation for the Unit 1 Test (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, Synthesis). We also took a look at the Chapter 5 Practice test. This (along with the Study Guide and other Chapter Tests) will be a very important study tool this weekend.

-Study for the UNIT 1 TEST (chapters 1, 3, 4, 5). It will be Monday, 11/24/14.

(Study your old Chapter Tests for Chapters 1, 3, and 4. Study the Chapter 5 practice test. Re-read the chapters. Study the Key Content Terms. Go over the questions on the Unit 1 Study Guide. It always helps to study with a buddy or to have someone quiz you!)

2. In class: Today we continued our class Read-Aloud of Wonder. We will be using this novel as an example to practice building theories about characters in our own novels. We will also continue to hunt for Notice and Note Signposts along the way.
NOTE: The students also received their Personal Narrative rubric scores today in class. The next step for these Narratives is to prepare them to be published in our "Chicken Soup for the BCS Soul" anthology. This anthology will be a collection of all of the 5/6 Personal Narratives. It will be shared with the other 3rd-6th grade BCS students and teachers. We will also have a classroom copy available to read during Language Arts classes. In order to prepare your Narrative for publishing, you must follow the steps on the assignment sheet (1/2 page) that was passed out during class today. You can also find this assignment sheet on the Literacy Workshop Wiki, under "Chicken Soup for the BCS Soul."
